I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…

This is the message i sent him on Tagged…Ok but it’s pretty clear, both of us know I’m right. Then you sit with several profiles included on Facebook does not make things better. I’ll tell you I only know a hell of distaste for what you and many of you are doing. Bastard who scammed me thousands of dollars in prison today, and I hope to god that he may sit there for the rest of his life. While I think it is damn sad when you know what you’re doing, for you and I both know that you are not and will never become an American military, as simple as that. Then you call yourself that, it’s so damn simple. The only thing you can do it is to steal military identities, soldiers who do everything for his country, with lives at stake. To Margaret Rodgers John Mark is the name he used on Tagged, Margaret I know scammer’s real name. There is a guy from Ghana 23 years old and his name is Patrick Nukafo. I sent him a message on Tagged, and in response so he sent me his address and password, and wanted me to delete his account current on Tagged. He said after I asked him, no woman has sent money to him. He said that the message I sent to him inside the Tagged he realize what he was doing, and he felt terrible when he read the message. I’ve seen him on Skype and talked to him so I know he’s telling the truth. I want to share with you the message I sent to him.

He is not claiming to be military, but I could tell right away from the e-mail he sent me that he was a scammer and think you should all be aware just in case you are pegged. He came though ourtime.com which is for 50 and older, and the day after I answered his flirt message he deleted his profile so I don’t know what he was using, but here is his e-mail he sent, sorry it’s so long, but you can tell in several sections that it’s a form that they fill in (and he forgot to fill in the info) lol He’s using eyesandblue@yahoo.com and says his name is Brad James Palmer. I also included my response to him and haven’t heard from him since. I am sure he was going to ask me for money to get him back home from England with some story, but I wasn’t born yesterday. I am so happy and excited to win the contract last month though I have to execute and complete it to get my finance back on feet. I believe I can still build my finance back to standard like I use to be, the more reason why I want a very sincere and honest woman in my life now. I left San Francisco 3 days ago, I am presently in the United Kingdom to purchase some building merchandise and pick up some orders I made for the execution of the contract I had in Long Beach. I also plan to liquidate my father’s investment and consignment he left behind here in England. Its my first time in here in London, it has been very bored, No Friends! Interesting that you are in England right now, that is one of the countries that I would love to go to someday, so I envy you. Just because you are by yourself does not mean that you can’t enjoy yourself. I have had to travel many times for business to different cities, and I just found out what was interesting in the area and went out to explore. Don’t waste your opportunity, go out and have some fun, you don’t know if and when you may get to go there again. I would love to take a month and go to England, Ireland, Scottland and Germany and explore or see as much as I can.
Now, please don’t take this the wrong way, especially if you are legit, but I have encountered many scammers on this site already, so am very cautious of people that I chat or e-mail with and thus I really check out people that I may be meeting in person. I have access to many different areas that I can find out about people, and right now, I am unable to confirm little of what you indicate below. In the entire US, there is no record of a Birth (for someone in your age bracket), a Marriage, or a Divorce at any time in the last ten years. Also your English is a little different, even if you were raised in Germany, you indicate that you came back here when you were 29, so that should be plenty of time especially if you have a college degree as a Civil Engineer that the use of proper English should be ingrained in you by now, as well as my inability to find anything on you in Google. It also appears that you have deleted your profile in the dating site because it disappeared out of my in and sent boxes. I have had plenty of time to become skeptical, and thus am not one to easily fall for scammers and have actually had fun messing with some of them. If you are thinking of asking me for money, or to accept a package or any number of other weird requests, don’t bother because that will not happen at anytime with me (I didn’t just fall off the Turnip Truck) lol.
I apologize if you truly are who you say you are, it is just that I have to be careful, and if you are legit, and really have had all the things happen to you, with friends and your spouse, than you of all people should understand that trust is earned not a given. So, if you can provide something to prove you are who you say, and still want to correspond (which is what will have to be for a little while), than feel free to write back. If you are a scammer, than don’t bother please because it will be a waste of your time and mine.

Western Union and other such companies offer anonymity when sending money. All you need is a code word or number to pick it up. That works fine when people have no identification and are around the world. The money is tracked but unless it is over $10,000 the US Govermment does not care. There is nothing illegal about sending money this way. What do you want the government to do, shut down Western Union? It’s not like the gov is in cahoots with the scammers. There are soooo many of them and they are not going away. Kinda tough to reach into abnother country. We can track it right to the pickup point, heck you may even have a picture of the guy picking uyp the money. So now what are you going to do about it? There is nothing that you can do. And DHS is not about to restrict Americans from their own lives, even if the decisions are wrong.

Ok I’ve got two of the sob’s real name’s: Moses Avwunugbe from Nigeria. Known to some as Dennis Graves. An aka military man… Yeah right. Scamming widows out of their money. I hope one day he gets his. And a lovely woman from Indiana has been scamming my relative also. I’ve got her name also. It’s not that hard to find these people. I just hope one day justice visits you both, plus the rest of these scammers. Funny how once one of these scammers do start to talk, they tell on themselves and others. Don’t worry, the information is safe with the proper authorities. It is a shame that our Homeland Security or our government cannot do more to stop our money from being sent across the world to scammers. Track the wired money that is riding out of America? Somehow? I don’t know…. But there has to be an answer. To help protect our country and out people. We protect and help everybody else, why not our own citizens?

I have been in the Army for 24 years now, joined right away after the Military Academy. Its been a tough time for me in the ARMY , I fought in the Gulf war in 1990 to 1991. The gulf war was fought to liberate Kuwait from autocratic rule of the late Saddam. I had a pretty bad experience…that’s just by the way… Its been 8 months I have been deployed here in Iraq, Baghdad, and looking forward to be home soon as the war is now over and most of us have already been deployed back home…I do miss my boy and miss all the “Home sweet home stuff you know”….

To Ann-Katrin Majala – yes we have reports on this website about Kenneth Preston. He is well documented scammer. I have dealt with him and so has Beverly and we both have reported him on here . I reported him to Face book. This has been done several times. Sadly he keeps posting back up on Face Book. He also has showed up on Shytle.fm and other date sites. He also uses the alias’s John Mark, Mark Wilson, and Richard Wilson.

i think i am in the same situation as someone called david j sanders stg got hold of me on friends reunited said he was 48 in iran lost his wife and hild in the london bombing in 2005 he hasnt asked me for money but when i ask him things he never answers i have been on line and out of the 52 people killed no children were lost thank god on that day and no one with his surname was killed , i told him he was a scammer and said he wasnt and it might be me and did i know his fate out there and that he loved me and wanted to marry me i have only been talking to him for a month he also had 2 profiles on friends one was the name i have given the other was david elliot which i have had removed by friends so he can no longer send emails from iether of thoses names ,when i asked him why he had two names on the same site i was told incase the taliman got his email address now im 53 going through divoce after 31 years and whats funny is my soon to be x is going to marry a girl in kenya 31 years younger then him who he met on holiday last oct he has been to stay with her 4 times all in all about 18 weeks in 14 months he sold my home and is moving out to be with her in march next year but he dosent think hes been scammed, what do you think? so its men and women all i can say is i hope they get what coming to them pls pls dont be fooled by theses people they act on the old fail and weak people who are going through a bad time in their life like me im sure they are sericve men and women who are really who they say they are but if they want money just block them report them no one has to pay for love no matter what the other person has been through believe me no matter how bad you feel someone or something will come your way one day without paying for it .
