I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

He is now not fake soldier he is different not soldier . but this time he put his real picture . and a lot of Asian girl are caught him .
His name is Donald now !!
I lost a lot of money from him
Another one is rich.mond1001 who claims to be a soldier in Afghanistan as well, and wants you to send him a “care package” through a “diplomat”. These people just never quit. Met on Match.com.
I recently carried on with a capt mason donovan. So watchout for email with captmasondon@yahoo.com
scam here. Too bad these groups are creating karma for themselves and it’s going to bite them in the end. My mother always said, if you steal from someone, someone else will come along and steal from you. Too bad they are using us soliders pictures and ID. The pic that I got had the name Mason on his uniform so I am guessing it was his last name. He was pretty cute.
Hi-I am talking with this soldier who say he is in libya on a special mission.I met him on a date site and the problem is he has two different pics up,the one on the date site is different then the one he put up at yahoo messenger when we chat.
How can I find out if there two pics are of the same person?
is there a soft wear to get for this free?
Is there ground troops in libya?
Someone let me know what you think.
thank you
Julie, he is fake, and that name has been used as a fraud before. if he will not give you his email address ending in .mil then he is fake!
I just Googled “Ramos & scammer” and got a bunch of hits including Aaron.
Let me also say how shocked I was to find comments by people who are impersonating police officers. When I first posted about a year ago there was a section that said each post had to be verified before posting to the subscribers. NOT! Please fix this error STAT before these ladies are yet abused by another scammer most likely from Legos, Nigeria. The English they use is appalling for a police officer but some of your users have English as a second language and they may not pick up on how poor the punctuation, capitalization etc. is. Aside from this bitching you are doing a wonderful job and I praise you all for now making it so easy to determine that an imposter is a scammer. I had to do my own investigation back then & it took some time. I don’t look for love in all the wrong places anymore, LOL. What will be, will be. TYMSG & Ms Rodgers & the Hostess with the most.
Dear Julie : Did you google the name Aaron Ramos in your browser ? There are pictures posted and a lot of info on this person. First if he refuses to give you any answers that pretty much is a sure sign he is fake. Stating” he doesn’t have to”, is a sure sign. MSG Robert McLaughlin always says ask for their .mil email address. He states they have no reason to refuse this info, and all are given one. I feel pretty confident you have the scammer who poses as Aaron Ramos. He does it quite often and has been doing it for a long time. More than one scammer uses a particular name and picture. They sometimes are 5 or 6 scammers using the name Ramos or some other name. They rotate, working in shifts. They have files on people and work them having as many as 50 to 100 different ones they are contacting. It is an occupation for these people and they are good at it and well organized. Of course he will be adamant about anything he states. If he did not, he would give away his game. I got contacted by so many scammers, i can’t count them on my fingers and toes because there was a file on me. I still get them today. I just keep deleting them. Do your homework. Search the internet and read all you can find on scammers. Educate yourself. You will learn and it will help to protect you.
hi, i,ve asked him about being in kabul afganastan and he swears blind he is, when i ask him to prove it he says he doesnt have to, is there any way i can get the email addy ot telephone number of his base to ask his commandant if he realy is there, i need this close, or if you could do it for me, his dob is24/3 1964, hes under the name of sgt aaron ramos, you help would be appreciated thankyou very much julie.
To MSG Robert McLaughlin: Thank you. I directed only two questions to MilitaryLaw.com. The first being were there fee’s for retiring and the second regarding any fee’s for taking leave. I received a very professional reply explaining no fee’s where charged for retiring or for taking leave. Some additional info was given to me on how leave’s are earned and taken. I was advised also that most likely I was being contacted by a Nigerian National and should cease contact. I felt they were honest and felt no scam was intended. I had no further contact with them. That information was all I needed. Unfortunately, I did not know of this site at that time, or else I could even have saved my time and effort with them. Sadly finding this site came too late for me, but it’s not too late for me to try to help others with what knowledge and experience I have obtained. Hopefully I never steer anyone in the wrong direction.
To Allie: Thank you. If I can prevent from happening to just one lady out there, what happened to me , I will smile with joy. If I can prevent one scammer from collecting free money, from devastating and breaking a heart, what small effort I put forth is well worth it.
To All: A while back I posted info on a scammer I had who claimed to be Robert Anderson, email was Robert_am9 and posted a picture of a white male in a suit. About a month ago he confessed to me that he was not Robert Anderson or the man in the picture he posted. He sent me a picture of a young black Nigerian man, somewhere in his twenties, living in Lagos. I’m still not quite sure why he did that. Of course I stopped chatting with him and deleted him.
Now there was another one who went by richardrickyrivera who also used that as his email and posted a picture of a white male also.( Different than Robert) Now so happens a couple weeks ago he confesses to me, that is not his real name and that is not his real picture. He says, “would you like to see the real me “? ( LOL) I say yes. So he sends me a picture of a young black Nigerian guy ( Different than Robert). So I’m thinking what is it with all this ….. is it National Scammer Confession Week ??… most likely I have one person using two separate names and separate pictures……that’s how twisted they are !!!
To Julie Gunn: MSG Robert McLaughlin says if they claim to be Military to ask them for their .mil email address that is issued to every Military person. If they say they cannot give it to you for security reasons or any other reason that is a lie. If they are a scammer, of course they won’t be able to give you one. If he should ever ask for money or any kind of financial aid , that is a red flag. Please go to your google browser and type in “Aaron Ramos scammer”, and then hit enter. There is a whole page full of info and pictures for you. Maybe that will help you. There is also Scamwarners.com and wall of shame you can google for pictures. When I googled “Aaron Ramos scammer”, I felt like I hit the jackpot !!
I don’t think I’d pay people at militarylaw.com for answers about scams, that sounds like a scam in itself. Remember it does not end in .mil so it is a civilian site.
Ok Julie, I found you and added you on Facebook.
To MSG Robert McLaughlin & Margaret Rodgers, a big thank you for your time and efforts in answering questions and all your information. I was close to being scammed but managed to use my brain and ended up here and saved myself a lot of trouble. I just refer my girlfriends to this site when they don’t believe me when I say they are being scammed by lowlife oxygen thieves. You guys are heroes.
hello, with referance to your comments, i take on board everything you have said, i have got a picture of him in my photos on my timeline but i dont know how to transfer them, if you request me as a friend juliewebsterwingfield you are welcome to go through my photos to see him, by the way this is not the same aaron ramos thats on hundreds of sites that has his own site on facebook, i was told he last served in iraq and left i 2007, apparently hes not in kabul and never been to afganastan, asked him this and he said he was in iraq then went to us army then was deployed to afganastan 9 months ago, i,ve heard so many differant things i dont know what or who to believe anymore, we are still chatting after 11 months but he hasnt asked me for anything else so far, your feed back would be appreciated, thankyou………………….julie gunn.
To Isabel : Thank you for your post. I believe you are 100 percent right. I also suspect this POLICE or Mr. WILSON as he calls himself may possibly be Mark Wilson, a scammer I and others discovered last year, and was using many other alias’s as well. One of the other names he was using was Kenneth Preston. Using both those names, he posed as a soldier. He has been well documented on here and on the internet. Looks like he may be trying to use a new profession.
To MSG Robert McLaughlin : Thank you Thank you. I could see it too.
I agree with MSGT Robert Mclaughlin the guy is Fake police visten ladies to what he says about scammers. I have been e-mailed By people i dont know scammers trying to diploma me. I am not stupid. I can spot one a mile off.
. I have a group for women who have been scammed the stories are horrific broken hearts and loss of money and also when you try to be truthful about the scammers you find the scammers have got in to the woman’s minds and brainwashed them so much they believe everything. I was involved with another group where the woman who ran it got scammed and she still fell for scammers. Twice after the first time she could not tell a scammer from a real person. Also women become so obsesses it takes over there lives.
My email is Isabel.ipj58@gmail.com
Be careful of false promises I see there is email from police on here to me it don’t look real contact your local police where you are no one gets there money back.
Also be careful of what groups you join they might be run by scammers too it’s a nasty business
To Ms Nessemej: The Military has great and wonderful medical coverage for their personnel AND THEIR FAMILIES. Our Military NEVER have to reach out to a civilian for anything and especially a GENERAL !! There is a site called Militarylaw.com where for a small fee you can get real Military lawyers to answer any question you have. I know I have used it. You have a scammer.
To Ms Gunn – This Ramos guy is well documented scammer on these pages and on internet. Please read some of the older posts on here. Everything said to you is textbook of what they say and do. Delete him and block him or you will lose your money and your heart.
Nissemej and Julie, they are FAKE!!!! Wilson the cop here on this site is a FAKE too!
Hey Police, you are fake and too obvious about it! Keep trying, but not here. Go to other sites where the people are not as smart as we are!
