Has Your Zodiac Sign Changed?

The zodiac sign you know and love may not actually be your zodiac sign anymore.

Apparently, due to changes in the Earth’s alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed, according to Astronomer Parke Kunkle.

I’m one of those whose sign not only changed to another familiar one, but the new 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.

Ophiuchus, indeed.

NOT! Once a Sagittarius, always a Sagittarius.

Here are the new dates:

  • Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
  • Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
  • Pisces: March 11- April 18
  • Aries: April 18 – May 13
  • Taurus: May 13 – June 21
  • Gemini: June 21 – July 20
  • Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
  • Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
  • Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
  • Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
  • Scorpio: Nov. 23 – Nov. 29
  • Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
  • Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan. 20

So, has your zodiac sign changed? And if so, how do you feel about that? Feel free to share your comments below.

Wow! Here I was thinking I’d have to start life anew as a Sagittarius. I suppose you would have given me pointers, eh Rosalind?

  3. Being a longtime Astrology buff, I found this news quite shockiing and so got curious as to what was up. Here’s what I uncovered…

There actually is a lot of confusion over this. Most people do not realize that there are 2 zodiac cultures. There is the Tropical Zodiac and the Sidereal Zodiac.

The Sidereal Zodiac relates to which constellation the sun is in during your birth and that is your sign. This is what has changed. They have recently discovered that when the sun appeared to be in a particular constellation that we were observing it incorrectly. Due to this we have been about a month off for thousands of years hence the correction. Also the Babylonians only wanted 12 signs so they purposely omitted the 13 which is Ophiuchus.

The most important thing to realize is that this system is used mainly in asian culture. The majority of the western hemisphere does not con-scribe to this Zodiac.

Western culture is mostly Tropical Zodiac and this includes most of us who know ourselves by a certain sunsine. This Zodiac HAS NOT CHANGED.

The Tropical Zodiac relies on the seasons to indicate which sign you are born in. These Zodiac signs are tied to the same dates as before because the developers of the Tropical Zodiac believed that our environment influences our personality and that environment is the changing seasons of the Earth.

Therefore this zodiac is independent of the Suns location relative to the constellations.

I hoped this clears up a bit of the confusion. If you’re interested to read more, check out Wikipedia’s article on Tropical Astrology

Thanks so much for the astrological clarification! Happy to know I’m still a Sag. 🙂

      Cheers,
