A survey of 750 single men and women in the U.S. revealed that the typical Valentine’s Day gifts of lingerie, chocolates and flowers are no longer trendy… or even desired.
Seriously guys, you buy lingerie for YOU, not her — and she probably doesn’t even want it. Only 1.6% of women responding to the survey thought that lingerie would be a nice gift. 5.2% of women responding said that chocolates were high on their wish-list.
Flowers do a little better with a 30% positive response, but what if your girlfriend is one of the 70%? That’s not to say that flowers aren’t a lovely gift – just not for Valentine’s Day. Try giving them for no reason at all and see the delighted response you get.
So, what do women want?
They would prefer to receive a gift of a shared experience – an activity both of you can enjoy together. Now, get your mind of the gutter guys and think dinner, movies, a romantic weekend get away, rock climbing, a couple’s massage, his and her iPads…
As for gifts for the guys, that’s easy. Anything geeky or that spells fun in the bedroom.
