I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

Does anyone know Jeshua Daveen,Scott Mendez, Jackson Scott Blair, Harry Miller, Shawn Newkirk? ive been talking to them and they were asking for money, for their leave or send box to me. I didn’t send any money but i was very dissapointed, i couldn’t believe in this. I was looking for my man..
I have ran into 2 scammers from Date Hookup, the first is Curtis Baker, sircurtis17@yahoo.com, peace keeping mission in Afghanistan. I do have some pictures and chats from him. And the other is James Ramos, ramosjames10@yahoo.com, peace keeping mission in Afghanistan. I do have some pictures and chats from him. I found a video of him, James Ramos on UTUBE. US soldiers photos abused by scammers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=zEqaJ7BwPEg#t=54 I have NOT given any money to them. I do wish they could both be arrested because I’m sure they have received money from females.
hello there, thought id inform you of another scammer, first lieutenant keith steele, supposedly in afghan,i met him on the above site, said he was due to leave the forces,and afghan when troops arrived to take over, but,troops went to syria instead,and of course, hes there for another 6 months, but if by magic, if paid for a liberty pass card at the cost of 680 pound, he could fly from afghan to here, after being met by a u s official at the airport, fetching him to my home, he would then apply for retirement.he has a daughter living in london with his ex wife,said onlyy way of him coming out of army, was to pay for the card which release his exit from afghan.ive googled the card and it s shown as a scam, even if he wanted emergency leave, no money should be asked for,i had a supposed email from
admin sending me a policy document for me to read. where i have to give my address
so that when he arrives on airport, hes fetched straight to me where i sign ,a safe release paper.his yahoo email is steelekeith65@yahoo.com,ive reported him to the site and blocked him.so please beware .
In January 2013 I was contacted by a scammer using the name of McClint Webb and had an ongoing relationship for 4 months on IM and emails. And, yes I fell in love, 8 hours a day for 4 months. He was supposed to fly to see me, but got a contracting job in Nigeria instead. At the time I had no idea what a scammer was. He wound up asking me for $1500 because some of his equipment got lost en route. I know that an engineer only uses a computer and does not ship heavy equipment overseas. My friend is a retired policewoman and she started tracking him. He even sent a picture of his passport, which matched the phony forms the Nigerians use. His last words to me in April were “I will prove to you that I am not a scammer when I get home” On Sept 3rd he contacted me and said “Hi, How are you doing?”Before I could reply Face Book kicked him off. I have 63 beautiful emails that hr sent me (scripted, of course) and all of our IM messages. He did me a favor tho, I am 75 and have been widowed for 10 years, and he made realize that I still had romantic feelings , so I went on the dating sites and have met some really nice men that are not scammers. However I seem to be a scam magnate because to date I have busted 63 scammers. Funny thing happened last week. When mI went on the computer I had an offline note from a guy I had talked to breifly 3 months ago and it said “I want to be honest with you. I am a scammer too” I thanked him for his honesty and we had a conversation. He is white American and doing his own thing, not working for anyone, and he says he will not scam again, as now he has a job. I do have information on about 5 of my scammers, and I will post it. I usually don’t give out my email address as I have been hacked and had viruses downloaded and I had to change all kinds of stuff and it cost me about $150 to have me computer fixed.I seem to be a scam magnate. I am 75 years old, but I am very attractive for my age and I look much younger than I am
This is funny. I added this paragraph to my profile at the bottom” If you are a scammer, just scamon by because I can spot you in a New York minute and I will report you to the site and to the FBI!”
Any way I had been chatting with a guy and he wanted my email add. and I gave him my cell number and went outside to wait for him to call.When he didn’t I came back to my computer and he had written “Read your profile again and it turned me OFF!” Imagine that! So the next message I answered I asked if he had read my profile carefully and he did and I got a message “This member can no longer receive messages from you” I have had as many as 5 scammers a night. I managed to track one email from a “Captain in the Army in Bagdad” and it went to Guana and then back to Kansas City MO. Isn’t that FBI territory. I have not been able to track any more because of the tracking tag I have to put on it and Yahoo won’t accept them.
Any ideas anybody???
I have talked to about 20 service men on there all there wives had died and 3 of them asked me for money and they all love me after the second day and they are always deployed one even called me he had a accent so I hung up on him I have there pictures and they are still on tagged some of them cant even spell how can I turn there pictures in and there names and there email
i came across a man whos name is west Johnson about 8 months ago and he claims to be in Kabul afghanastan .his daughter is in Nigeria with mother who is missionary there ..he will claim nd use his daughter saying she has malaria and needs money for medicine …the sum of 500.00 please don’t make the same mistake as I did ….once again…west Johnson is the name he is using and you can see his picture on his facebook page …look hard and be aware of this man
I agree that shouting is not the way to communicate but it is frustrating to read the comments some women make. I, too, have tried to explain how the scammers work but it does seem that some of the women that write here just don’t get it. Or refuse to get it. Best of luck to you all…
To Heather
While I agree with some of your comments, you have no right to condemn people who make mistakes by trusting people, weather it be on a dating site or a singles night were people meet in person, there are many lonely woman out there who are trusting and lonely so if they get a bit of attention at one time it may be what they need, there certainly not to know that there going to be scammed!! I was a victim and if i didn’t find out about this site I wouldn’t have known that others have gone through the same things as me as it helps to talk about it and also warn other women not to fall victim I know it certainly gave me some relief and I have taken heed of the advice from the people on here and it has helped me immensely, no one is perfect in anyway no matter what life throws at you so before chastising show a little sympathy because in the future you will come across people that you may know that have been scammed and had there emotions ripped out because i for one know exactly how they feel!!!
I’ve been talking to David A. Puzzo. He’s in the Army and asked me to e-mail his boss to request time off. So he can come back home. I received a e-mail back saying..
In view of your decision to agreeing with the leave procedure and policy to bring your soldier man on an unofficial leave for the signing of the power of attorney for his daughter to have proper care,I will like to inform you that Transit process is free if your soldier man is going for an official assignment or his deployment is over where the Military and the Red Cross taking the sole responsibility responsible for this but you are requesting for the Transit process of Sgt David A.Puzzo unofficially. The money you are to remit to the military will prove that he’s not playing any pranks on the Military which will be refunded after five working days when his safe arrival is confirmed.Please bear with us as I have to follow the normal protocols of the military.
You will have to remit $1,880 (One Thousand Eight Hundred And Eighty Dollars) to the military diplomat in the states. If you had agreed to make the payment then you can write back requesting for the payment details.As soon as you make the payment a money back guarantee and Leave form will be sent to you as an evidence for the claims of your money.
Awaiting your response..

from the site: http://www.romancescam.com/
hey’re perfect. In fact, they’re someone you could see yourself spending the rest of your life with. A decent person with a good job or business in search of a good, honest partner to settle down with.
You or someone you know may be dating this person online right now. However, be warned. Things aren’t what they appear to be. In reality you’re talking to a criminal sitting in a cybercafe with a well rehearsed script he’s used many times before. He’s hunting through chat rooms, dating sites and social networking sites searching for victims, looking to cash in on romance. If you are over 40, recently divorced, a widow, elderly or disabled then all the better in his eyes. Scammers are adept at psychological profiling, and use any weakness they find to their advantage.
It’s the newest evolution of the Nigerian advance fee (419) scam. Instead of sending spam letters that promise millions for your assistance, these scammers are targeting single men and women who are searching for love online.
They use psychological tricks to lure their victims in, use poetry and even gifts to get them under their spell, then once you are there, will try to reach for your wallet, all the time declaring their “undying love” for you. The scam may take the form of asking you to cash a cheque for them through your bank account because they are “out of the country” and unable to cash it themselves, or they may come right out and ask you to send money to help them out of a fabricated “financial difficulty” they claim to be experiencing. These are all lies used to try to make them easy money from an unsuspecting victim.
The sad truth is, for every real profile you see on the internet, there are numerous false ones pretending to be your perfect mate and using photographs stolen from modelling or social networking sites. The people in the photographs are as much victims as the people who get scammed for hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars.Internet romance scams and other related crimes are very real, and they are affecting — even ruining — lives throughout the world.
The best weapon against this crime is education. The more people that are educated in the ways the scams work, the harder it is for the scammers to make money and the more scammers that can be put out of business.
Romancescam.com was formed in 2005, originally as a site to add the details of any scammers who tried to join the datingnmore.com dating site. As the list grew, more sections were added to make the site what it is today – the largest and most influential online resource against romance scammers from around the world. It has gained media attention worldwide, and has been featured on an episode of the Oprah show.
Today’s romancescam.com is much more than simply a list. It features a forum with over 45,000 registered users and more than 200,000 posts by its ever growing membership. You can take a test to see what the likelihood is that the person you’re talking to is a scammer, check IP address, research your contact on different social networks and much more.
If gullible and cinderellas are now “bad” names…. you need to revise your standars, there’s lots of posts, and women can google, but seems they still want to get trapped, the red lights are there! I just can’t believe it is really necessary to repeat over and over and over again
The biggest trap is feel alone, and think a charming prince is on the other side of the pc… the capital letters are there for purpose as wake up call…
LTC James Hutton, stationed in Afghanistan, owns a home in Clermont, and California, wife Jennifer or a Dianna Hutton died in car accident 4 years ago, as that of his parents Mary and Michael Hutton. Has 15 year old daughter living in his home in CA. Retires, and needed money to pay fees for luggage to be sent to you with lots of cash and gold found in the desert. The promise of this is yours, needs his retirement doc in luggage, so he may return to the States and start a life with you. Asks you to go off Zoosk, Wants to cam you on Yahoo. Email address is James Hutton40@yahoo.com. Checked property records, he does not own the property he claims. You are the only one he has to help him or he will end up in Syria.
To Amanda – You can start with reporting him to Zoosk as abusive and a fake profile. Which sadly doesn’t mean he won’t just turn around and open a new one, using another picture and new name. This is standard procedure for them . They are like cockroaches and a terrible disease that is hard to get rid of. There are thousands of them out there and all over the world. The best we can do is try to educate people on what to look for and how to avoid them. This is one site that is trying it’s best.
To Lydia – Yes you have scammers, definitely. The one wants your bank information so he can get into your account. Once he has your account number, can do some bad things !! They do not have to pay for their leaves. Simple. Read up on the prior posts on this site.
Another chap claiming to be Richard Davidson Scott sold a good story on being a luietenant ready to retire from Afghanistand living in New York,but originating from Montana and raise din UK,, then goofed by sending photos of a heist he and others made which was same photo as Roland England sent me last year- Scammer
You can also ad David Ellis to this list- presently in Pakistan – stuck supposedly so needs your money!!!
Lydia and all the women here, what all of you are trying to wait for?
This page has tons of people teaching how to identify and tips to stay away of scammers!
Seems to me that nobody is interested, in spend time and learn, that they only want MONEY!!!
USA ARMY, NAVY, MARINES, DO NOT ASK
FOR MONEY’S PEOPLE TO SEND BACK THEIR PERSONELL!
THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS PAY TO LEAVE THE SERVICE.
GET A LIFE OUTSIDE INTERNET! 9 IN 10 PEOPLE ARE LIARS WORKING IN GROUPS OF 10 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO SCAM YOU!
THEY ARE NOT IN LOVE OR EVEN INTERESTED IN YOU, THE NAMES THEY “USE” ARE PHONY!
AND IF THEY USE WEBCAM IS HACKED FROM SOMEONE ELSE.
NIGERIANS CALL THEIR VICTIMS AS “MUGU” WHITE IDIOTS.
MOST OF THEM ARE FROM AFRICA, MALASYA AND RUSSIA!!!
GOOGLE THE WORD —> SCAMS AND SCAMMERS, YOU WILL GET TONS OF DIFFERENT RESULTS…
WE TRY OUR BEST TO TEACH YOU, BUT PEOPLE ARE ADAMANT TO LEARN.
DON’T SEND THEM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, INTERNATIONAL MONEY ARRIVING AT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL SERVE TO THEM GET OUT OF TROUBLE OR USE YOU TO WASH DIRTY MONEY!
WELL I AM A WOMAN, AND CAN’T BELIEVE THERE ARE SUCH IGNORANTS AND RETARDS WILLING AND WISHING TO BE SCAMMED. ONLY SHOUTING WITH YOU SEEMS TO BE NECESSARY TO WAKE UP OR WHAT?
I am a active member of sites against scammers; keep in your minds this:
1 – ALL royal crown princes from royal families to be kings are married!;
2 – There’s still some good people single or divorced, whatever looking for a partner; is up to you to collect evidences, and keep in touch or not;
3 – Get a life outside the dating sites, usually couples meet at common friends parties and so on;
4 – Scammers always say: I am a single parent of a boy or a girl, my parents died on a horrible car crash, they are always fond on dramas,
5 – A person in your life asking for your money?! really????? well go ahead cinderellas seems no one want to get out of trouble, so enjoy your life being ruined, all your money and security taken away; some people really need to get a life ruined,
6 – AND NO your scammer don’t love you, and your case is NOT DIFFERENT of the others, there’s no feelings inside scams, only the interest on material things.
Good luck gullible women!
Heather,
You do not need to SHOUT at our readers, and you could try to be just a little bit nicer. We are here to help others, not SHOUT at them and call them names.
Thank you,
Rosalind
Hi. I have been talking to several guys one Is dowie taylor claims he is in the army wants me to send him a phone and wants my bank account information so he can wire money to it. I also been talking to decisiveness281@yahoo.com he wants to come home and said that he needs me to pay 650 dollars to the army in ca for his paperwork . I believe that their both scams
Thank you for your response, its not a military dating site its Zoosk ! hes now saying hes in Regiment black OPPS !this is a PlayStation game call of duty, he wouldn’t send a message from his military email, said he cant give out that info, which I no is not true, how can I report him? hes taken someone’s identity and put it on zoosks website, his profile was written and read so beautifully, but emails have broken English in at times and say dear a few times, said he was a Christian the said he was catholic, I only sent my email as im a Christian looking for a Christian man, these men are so evil, how can I report him. many thanks… Amanda.
Gloria,
The only “leave refund” is if we ask for 10 days and take 8. Then we get to save those two days. IT COSTS NOTHING TO GO ON LEAVE. And guess what, I am in Special Ops and can prove it because I have an email address ending in soc.mil AND guess what, it is not secret! If there is anything secret he should not even be telling you it even exists. By the way I am retiring 31 OCT so them no more Army for me. 🙂
Amanda,
If family died ask the date and check vital statistic records, it is public information. My guess is it is a scam, I have seen that a hundred times here.
Gloria – I hope you got rid of your Paul Megson. You padded a scammers pocket with $300 bucks. He definitely was a scammer. I wish I could tell you how many times I have heard the story he gave you. Dozens of times. It is all lies. If you notice, they all have a wife that dies, usually 5 yrs ago, and are raising a child or two. Want you to be the child’s new mommy, blah, blah, blah. All family has died and or they were an only child. Geez. Their scenario is so overused, its like reading Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf, over and over again.
To Gloria – Once again I say, read some posts on here. The Military does not involve civilians in paperwork for leaves or retirement, The procedures are totally between the service personnel and the Military branch they serve. The Military does not accept civilians requesting leaves, or paying fees for such.
First things first, ladies and gentlemen IF something is too good to be true, sure it’s not.
I am not from USA or Canada, and I am going to say that the scammers flood the dating sites, Facebook and so on, once you are at their list, nothing or no one can remove you.
Most of scammers are from: Africa, Malasya and Russia, both male and females, and they call their victims as MUGU (white victim) in the language of Lagos in Nigeria.
And for sure they are reading your posts. So let’s learn some few things.
1 – Don’t rush anything with them, take the time to read what they will say, single parents, his or her family was killed in a car crash, so you need to help them with the hospital bill (they love drama);
2 – USA military personell always got a proper email address, learn to get the source of the email, find the IP and use this for instance: http://www.iplocation.net/
And United States are not so broken that they cannot afford to bring back the soldiers on deployment, a bit of common sense is good… like american military in Israel, Turkey, Africa, and other countries (that’s not even close of real);
3 – Don’t face them by webcams because they use false webcams links, to make You think he is the guy! Never confront him if You decide to go that way, they will learn with their mistakes and only God knows that the scammers got a bad bad bad grammar. Just simply block and stop all conversations, my opinion make another account, and IF a suspicious email arrives don’t open it, block, delete and add to the ignore list, because money does not grow on trees, so no deceased relatives of yours left a HUGE amount of money for you.
4 – Never NEVER give them fuel (your full name, address, personal goods, real profession and if your parents are alive) the less is more here, actually Malasya is the craddle of scammers; followed by Nigeria and Russia;
5 – They usually “send” some money and a pack with jewelry, money, computer” to make your life better, BUT you need to send the money through Western Union or to a private account, to release the pack and make it arrive to your door. Keep in mind that they just want your money!! Nothing more.
6 – They fall in love at the first conversation, You are needy of attention and willing, dreaming with a true love, it can happen in REAL life, not through a person you will never meet or know;
8 – This is a page to find the location of your scammer IP
http://www.iplocation.net/
9 – Another site dedicated to fight against scammers: http://www.romancescam.com/
10 – Another site that most of people of Tagged are listed
http://www.taglisted.eu/
11 – If you going to use your personal pics on a dating site please use watermarks on it, because they pick real pics, of innocent men and women and they photoshop the name on their uniforms and it is quite gross, because you can see how fake it is;
12 – Be careful on Facebook, use settings to make only friends of friends find you, and use the settings to more private; don’t talk to them, don’t spend time with them, never be available for them, because they are arranged in groups of 10 men and women talking to you, through 24 hours per day;
13 – Real man or woman will not ask money from you, never ever ever ever give to them your telephone number, because is almost impossible see many women falling into their tricks! Girls is 21th century this can’t happen, but is still going on and on because people are gullible;
14 – Use Google to research about scammers and you will see tons of sites about it, the most shocking thing is check they are using the money from victims and making a party with piles of money, new iPhones, notebooks and yet calling you MUGU. The pics are hideous ;
15 – Facebook, Tagged, Okcupid are full of scammers. At Facebook there’s a page dedicated to bust the scammers:
https://www.facebook.com/romance419
In Australia lots of men and women lost millions sending money to scammers, and since it started the number of victims that commited suicide are people that lost money, time and “love”, is a serious matter;
In one single week I busted 3 guys at Okcupid and on Tagged with simple research, sorry I can’t tell here how to search them, because I am aware that they read this kind of post to learn how to deceive us, visit the links I provided, not mention that the administrator of Facebook scammers receive constant threats, and they tried to intimidate me as well.
Last year I got a boring scammer as stalker, I give my best to make him hang himself in a loose leash, one of them said he is from UK and works in Japan as naval engineer poor creature he wish, even the name of the city is written wrong, then one saying he is from USA said he was a captain at the military personell and that he needed to quit the army, because he lost his parents in a car crash, and he “is” a single parent of a girl, who “happens” to be in college, he quit the military life to raise his daughter, and now he works for CIA, sad for him that to work in CIA the person must be a USA born citizen not the son or daughter of a immigrant, lmao the nigerian dream too much, he took more than 100 pics of a person in Facebook.
CIA program accept about 30 applicants and at the end or the process only 5 of them at the most are select and trained to work for CIA. Even wives or husbands cannot know they work for CIA secret service, bureau is another thing, that be mingled in another country. Open your eyes, think twice, respond with no hurry and don’t believe in fairy tales! Wishes of a good week to all!
is there such a form for the army as a leave refund form. I need to know this
