I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

To Kim – I have not heard those names, but that means nothing. They make up new names every few minutes. Never accept a friend request on Facebook from someone you don’t know. They only want to get on your account and pick off new victims from your friend list. One clue on these scammers are Facebook accounts just opened, with very little info posted on them, and or no friends or very few. Another clue is friends that look Nigerian or African, or older women. Your instincts came out, just trust them. Once they see your open to them, more will contact you. They will begin a file on you and it will be passed to hundreds of them. Delete them, and block them. Good luck.
please saying me is jons mills a scammer?
sgt.whitneyjoshuajn042@yahoo.com…scam…after chating for few weeks on datehookup…asked me to send care package..i did..i was telling a friend and she said do somehome work…turns out ..he lied…said he was just transfered from afghanistan to west africa…was gonna have to go camp in desert chasing some islamic group boko haram and needed stuff…all lies…said he was a widowed single dad had a boy in some carehome and i would be a perfect mom for him
I recently accepted a friend request on Facebook for Mike Elliott he with a task force unit in Afghanistan. He say he is a widow and has a 4 year son that lives with his sister. His messages are very well written and are very sweet and believable, but I become a little wary when there was no contacts or posts on his face book page. and that he had only been on Facebook a short time. Since accepting his friend request I have had others. Maxis Henderson based in Malaysia . Cyprian Hulk base in Afghanistan and Monrdy Cooldude. All these men haven’t been on Facebook that long.
Can anyone please tell me if they have heard of any of these men.

Claims to be in Army in Manila, but coming home. Also claims to be Brazilian….has very strong accent. Has a Pennsylvania based cell phone, and # displays, but prefers chatting via yahoo messenger. Asks for money for plane ticket home, even sent a flight itenerary. Also pulled the gold scam, claiming to need money to insure it because airline requires insuring. Really? Wanted money sent to Matthew Dunn…Quezon City…Manila…Phillipines.
a sergentstone ? is he real ?? ( aka stone McCracken )
I have been talking to a John D Raymond from Fort Knox and is at the moment in Kubal, afagn. He is stuck in Dubai as he was coming home to see me on leave… First he needed me to pay for his pass of base then he left and got to Dubai where Dubai now has new laws and he is stuck there. he needs 3000 to continue his travels. He even sent me a new photo and video of him at the gym in Kubal. I got an email form his commander and his flight schedual home. I paid the 900 for his pass of base then 700 for cert in Dubai now he needs 3000 to leave and come home. no way in hell. I really feel for his guy. He dint start of like the scams u hear we talked for hours everynight for two weeks then I asked for him to come home on leave when he could and this is how my scam started…..
To Sandra: You got it right. Sounds like he was trying to get items he could turn around and sell. Scammers do that also. Did he give you an APO address to send these items ?
Hi I was speaking recently to this person who claims to be a soldier (yet again) a Sgt. whitehead claims to be in Iraq still, on a peace keeping mission! Then after a week asks me to send him Boxer shorts, cookies, shirts and a play station 3 can you believe
that! He claims the military only supplies ‘Armywares’ and nothing else….when ever these people are questioned they get rude and abusive which means they are FAKE!!
I have also recently had a sgt. Matthew Dunn try and scam me. His email he uses is sgtmatthewd@yahoo.com
He done basically same thing he tried to do to Angie. Telling me he really wanted to hear my voice and gave me same usmobiles@army2.com address and got same long email that basically stated I have send 550.00 for a phone and send it to a Mark Henry western union in quezon city, Manila philippines. Did not send him any money or money for phone. Please be careful ladies on who you talk to. Hope this helps someone
Please do not fall for these scams listen to Margaret. American military do not need help with anything at all. They have everything with them I watch a programme on sky called blood road bomb squad they are in Afghanistan they have laptops phones everything they need. I have been shutting these scammers down for two years now on dating sites and Facebook and Skype. Most of these soldiers are married with kids or families very rarely do you meet one of them online I have met two real so far. It’s very hard to date American military personnel unless your in America. Do not send money to anyone you don’t know do not talk to any claiming to be military the other thing they claim to be is engineers or buisnessman. They always use Caucasian pictures mostly also when they introduce themselves they say AM Robert not hi my names Robert. Worked with Africans know how they speak I live in London.
Hi, I had been talking to Major Kennedy Bravescott, for a number of months and as he was about to be sent to an insecure area he wanted to send his luggage to me here in Australia (worth 3.5 mil) It got stuck in Ghana which drew a red flag. From Afghanistan to Australia via Ghana? Latest is he has apparently been detained. I got a phone call to ask for $3,000 AUD (yes I paid it!) for the judge to sign off on the papers to clear the gold, next day I got asked for another $2,000 AUD I paid it like a fool! I am now being asked for $15,000. I was concerned because they asked for the money in Australian currency. I really fell for this guy so I rang the US Embassy in Ghana to see if they could help me. I spoke to a lady who helps the US Soldiers who may get held for some reason. The customs in Ghana contact the Embassy as soon as there is a problem with a US serviceman. She told me there was nobody being held by that name. Also they will not be held for longer than 2 days. Please be careful out there, there are a number of resources which are available for us to take advantage of. I have found the US customs fraud squad and US Embassy both very helpful. I have also been speaking with Kelvin Martins who claims to be a doctor in Afghanistan, I believe he is a scam also. I called his bluff and haven’t heard from him since.
TO SANDRA; I forgot, send the info like the address and the names you have on him into the FBI along with any other info you have on him. You can feel reasonably sure that if that phone is not returned to you then someone received it at the address you sent it to. Also if he emailed you, trace the header for them too. Who knows, maybe someone can get him.
TO CRYSTAL; Do not open an account in your name and accept money into it coming in from abroad. You can find yourself into some very serious trouble. I see this scam all the time and it is constantly being tried on me. It is very dangerous scam for any one. Do not get involved in money matters with someone that you have no idea of who they really are. Many are not just scammers, but terrorists as well.
TO SANDRA; I believe you probably have a scammer that also uses Christopher Witt, Christian Witt, and Christian Walsh. All the same dude. He has been around for over a year.
TO JANA: Sounds like the routine scammer info being sent to you. Ask for his dot mil email ID. Must end in dot mil. only. This is one of their standard scams they try. Have seen it many times.
TO JACKIE; Ask him for his military dot email address. MUST end in dot Mil only, nothing else.
TO JORDAN SPACE JAM; Can’t make heads or tails of what your talking about.
TO ANGIE; Yes I have seen the name Mark Henry as a scammer . Your absolutely right, a real person does not ask for monetary means from you.
TO MARY JOHNSON: I have dealt with Michael Smith before. He is a scammer.
i am here to say i had 2 that said they were in the army and said they loved me and wanted to marry be then comes the bank account that one was kirk smith he made another account forgot that name and the other wanted to marry me want to know if i had a bank account and a netflixs account so he can rent movies his name was micheal smith he tryed to scam others to i have talk to them and i lady thinks shes engaged to him believing him please be care full out there
had no idea these men would be so cold but guess they thought I was stupid but I caught them in the act! I was contacted by a military guy
RECEIVER’S NAME: Mark Henry
CITY, : QUEZON CITY,
STATE: MANILA
COUNTRY PHILIPPINES.
We talked for a week Sgt Matthew Dunn and he even sent me videos and gave me email address to send him movies overseas (said they can not get US movies over there) which that raised the red flag because being a ex military wife I know they have PX’s that have movies. So anyways yesterday as we were talking he said he really wanted to hear my voice and asked that I email bsmobiles@maiil2army.com and tell them I needed satellite access services to talk to them. They then send me a huge long letter saying the services and cost which were up to 550.00 for the phone. I then told him im NOT SENDING ANYTHING!! I TOLD HIM IM AWARE OF THE SCAM AND THEY PICKED THE WRONG BLONDE TO TRY IT ON! he then begged me and promised he would repay me cause he had no access to his account to get money. My ex was stationed oversea’s and they ALWAYS had access to a phone and the bank accounts! Anyways I hope you ladies learn a lesson before it’s too late! a real man doesn’t ask for anything in return!!
Best Wishes!!
