I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

TO MARJORIE FAUST; This sounds like a scam. Why is he in Nigeria? We do not have troops in Nigeria.
TO ELIZABETH: I don’t think that is a good APO address but put a piece of paper in an envelope saying thanks for the address and mail it to that address and see if it comes back. or ask Msgt Robert McLaughlin on this site what he thinks. It doesn’t look right to me.
Elizabeth, that address looks legit but so do the photos that get posted in the pages. Confirm him by asking for his .mil email address and asking you to write from there and then you reply and make sure it says .mil in the reply as well.
Sorry here is Sgt Mark Gilbert 1/8 HQ Co. UIC 73200 FPO-AE 90510-3200 Kabul Fisher FPO address;
Here is Sgt Mark G. Fisher’s FPO address I believe it is an actual good one. I did check the obits none are his that fit any of the info I have on him
An American army been asking money because he told me I got him out of the army that he had an accident six months ago on his way to Australia he can’t cash his money because he put it on My address in Australia is stuck in Nigeria because they asked him $3225 and he doesn’t have money until he arrives to my country is died is life in hell he said me his Id is the same guy on my face book if he been served in the American army and he had an incident why the American army don’t help him or pay his ticket he been nagging for the last six months that is my fault because he used my address when he arrived to cash him money and he been begged me to give him my mobile to be in touch is name is Harry Owen
TO ELIZABETH; Also try and get him to email you some more pic’s of himself, flatter him. It’s the email that you want. You then can trace the ip number of the email and see where it is coming from. I would bet money, its Nigeria or Ghana. You also then can post the picture and name he is using on Romancescam or Scamwarmers too.
TO ELIZABETH : I googled this name Sgt Mark G Fisher in my browser and found a couple posts containing Obituary Notices. You might check those and see. Chances are his name is being used. Ask him for his dot Mil email and see if he will provide you one and if not he probably is fake . All APO address’s have a zip code attached, no exceptions. Does his have one ?
I have been chatting with a Sgt Mark G. Fisher, stationed at Camp Eggers, Kabul. I have checked many scammer sights, Spokeo.com, checked both his email address etc, have a APO address that seems valid so how do I make sure he is who he says and not get hurt?
Dawn, did he say First Lt? Because 1LT is proper. Ask for his .mil address and write to him there. No .mil at the end of his address = fake, regardless of what excuse he gives.
Hi again, i have met another guy on tagged, his name is Richard T Reyes he says he is a First Lt in the US Army based in the US, he also says he is from Carrollton Texas, we have been chatting now for awhile, it started as friends and then he asked me to be his girlfriend, so i agreed, things are going very well between us, but i would like to have him checked out for my own peace of mind, as i have heard more bad stories and i don’t think its nice and feel so sorry for US soldiers trying to find love and friendship on dating sites…they are the ones suffering as well as all of us women. I hope you can help
TO EVERYONE: Here are new names of scammers I found on “Topface” dating site. Avoid these :
Womanlove85 , Sgt.Gary Stone, John Benson, David Draper, Gary Vergara, George Adams, Paul Dean, Shandolf love, and Cliff Arthur. This dating site was 9 out of 10 scammers.
Hi, When I saw some red flags about Major Kennedy Bravescott in the US Army in Afghanistan, I rang US Customs and the guy I spoke to there was John Burgess, he is a special agent and told me to spread the word. “The more that know my email the better” I found he was really a really nice person to deal with and only too happy to help. John.C.Burgess@ice.dhs.gov He can research if there is a soldier by that name, but he can neither confirm or deny. He asked me for information and John searched the freight company Logistics Solutions which has a professional looking website, it too is part of the scam. Supposedly a 24hr service, if you call it always goes to message bank. If just one lady saves money by seeing this and contacting John it will be great.
TO Leigh Gia – The email is not military. Must end in dot mil and not dot com. Civilians do not get involved in leaves or retirement or any kind of military matters. Leaves are granted by request from the person who is serving in the military and not by anyone else. The English and spelling in the letter they provided is very very bad…..”there have being bad explosion all day” ??? Very unprofessional. This is not something they are going to say. Don’t bother further with this. He is a scammer. Don’t waste your time. Delete and block.
i wished i knew of this site , I was taken by C James lacky, and for alot of money
that was when i was first on any site. i talk to him for a year and sent at least
20 thousand , i look back and feel so stupid, And money i didn’t have. And it was
money to get him home. I am no longer on any dating sites.
Dana
Kathy, 5 star General Morgan Kummerfeld Mcallister is a fake. I’d not spend 3 seconds on his chat.
Heather, glad you got out cheap, yes there are tons of scammers out there!
Leigh Gia, army_secretaryunit01@diplomats.com is NOT a military address as it does not end in .mil. it ends in .com which anyone, even you, can get for $19 a year. And an APO address has a zip code, not that mess in the address you have.
Dorothy Colbert (and others), anytime a man says what a woman WANTS to hear, it’s fake. or he’s gay. Men are creatures of habit and we are ALL the same at the core as to what we want. Walks on the beach and candlelight dinners are NOT going to be on a short list, know what I mean?
Please be aware Ladies of James petersen, James Parker , James Malm , Terry. Is a scammer
I was contacted by this guy saying all the thing a lady would like to hear. He right away clam all this love for me and how he wanted to be my husband. and I started to check out romance dating fruad under military romance and his name appears in there twice. James parker, James malm, Terry I told him that I saw his picture on the site, He claims that he is in court in court about someone stealing his idenity, and he has imformed his commanding officer of this problem that suppose to happen to him . He got some kind angry with me when I called him out. These guy better remember karma will come come they way .God has something in store for them.. He asked me to help him buy a ticket for this diplomat to bring a package for him because he missed his milary flight, I told him as it look he is a high ranker he should have credit cards to buy his plane tickets..

Hello,
I met a man on the Internet. He titled him self as 5 star General Morgan Kummerfeld Mcallister. Sent a dashing gorgeous photo, distinguish gray hair, pair of glasses on, a typical respect demanding photo. Than wonderful love letters. Represented himself as a man of substance. After a week decided that he loves me so much, that he must visit me, and sent me a form letter to contact his lawyer for a live, and to transfer to my bank account $1.2 million. The amount made me to flashing. After a week this much, but I sent unfortunately my bank records, my passport copy to the lawyer, who I know now never was….
but the letter was demanding confidentiality, by the lawyer, and requested from me to send a copy to 5 star general Morgan Kummerfeld Mcallister.
Being an idiot I did, because I was dizzy from the love approach he had.
He was still going strong after 2.5 weeks, but the thing throw me off from my horse, that he ask me to send him a cell phone, and not any kind but the most expensive i pad, and give me a P.O.Box in Ghana Africa to delivery address. He is supposedly in the Afghanistan base….He even called me once, and I suspected a black man voice with accent, but the picture he sent is a white male.
Excuse for the i pad is that in the base he has no way to access his millions, and cannot communicate with the military line in private matters.
We all know that the military has some part what must be confidential…But this was odd for me. And today May 18, 2013 still insisted to send the i pad. (first communication on Skype messenger was May 6, 2013)
Today I told him: You need no woman, you need an i pad. In my country only have on our language the menu, so would not understand! And as a lady I demand something as a token of your love, like a diamond ring with saffires. That is nothing for a man of substance, who could transfer $1.2 million to my bank account.
Since this he disappeared, but still I will need to report him, because he will target some one else. He hunts for older ladies. Waking a desire in them as woman.
At least, when money was involved, I wake up. Decided not to get deeper into it, and in time I can get used the fact, that there will be no more love letters of everlasting love and marriage.
I met this guy on a dating site called “B2” and I really fell for him. His written english was really broken which made me question things, but I justified it by him spending so much time with Afghanistan troops. We spoke for about 6 weeks til he asked me for money. He asked me for $26,000 to clear his luggage which needless to say drew red flags. After a bit of research on the net, it would seem I too got sucked in. Ended up calling US customs and spoke to a Special Agent and he advised me from there. The agents final comment to me was “It’s troubling to see how despicable criminals can be so incompassionate to other people. Fortunately there are many more truly good people in the world than these few. I’m sorry you may be a victim in this circumstance, but there are many others too that have been swindled by elaborate and convincing fraudulent schemes. Financially it could have been a lot worse. Emotionally I am sure it is difficult. I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. Scams are common because they are convincing and successful. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Please be careful” I found that quite encouraging.
Katie — you wrote I figured him out “before it was too late”…but, you see, I didn’t. I didn’t figure it out before I sent him a lot of money.
Sandra & Katie & Colleen – thank you. It is so nice to find support. Katie – yes, I appreciate your offer to talk. That might be helpful…
All of your are so on target…this guy in Nigeria robbed a 2-3 months of my life, a lot of my money, and by not “letting go”, I am allowing him to continue to have power over me. Since I’m in a major transition in my life now, I could sure use that money. I don’t believe a day goes by when I don’t think about this…and it has been over 3 years.
To Dawn..He is a scammer he tried the same with me too, when i started asking him certain questions about .mil he just started ignoring me, he is still using that name to fool others and the pictures as well..
Hi Pam,Please take Katie’s advice..money loss is bad I know first hand as I had lost too, but the emotional scars last forever and at the time it does seem like that, although for me its been 2 years now have got over it and made it just a simple dot in my life but many of us move on at different stages in life and realise that the experience just makes us stronger and wiser and better women, They wasted some part of your life once, dont let it ruin the rest of it..Its not your fault….And more importantly they’re not worth it, there are genuine men out there just watch for the red flags..Good luck and take care..sandy
