I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

To Lori: I had one scammer (who knew I knew he was a scammer) tell me that they attack american women the most as a form of “payback” from the days when “whites” enslaved blacks. I told him hogwash, I wasn’t even born then and neither was he. I said your just using that as an excuse to steal from people and another wrong does not make another wrong, right. He got quite indignant and said, “your just trying to make me feel stupid”…!!! I thought Really ??. Maybe because you are ?
is there any secure site to check these guys out to see if they are real?
Has anyone heard a story that they want you to “speak on their behalf” to their lawyer regarding an inheritance they are to recieve?
He also claims he is special ops and cant give apo address
dont publicly post my email address- he may be watching
I have posted my story 2 times and it still never appears there. I felt that “my scammer” info is important.
her is another name ladies william peterson
he is a scammer too.
ok ladies here is some names to beaware of paul baldwin martin harris, boyen richards, bowenrichards,james alex, john smith,john allen,r.boyen. i have more ladies and be careful cuz they are big time scammers.
I met a scammer who claimed he was a staff sergeant by the name of Perry Edwards, email is colarm_22@yahoo.com. I learned too late but will never be coned again by him or his fried Dave Woods who is supposed to be a diplomat to the US Army. Ladies do not associate with these men. They are liars, scammers and extortionists.
Do we Americans look stupid? Well, apparently the scammers are getting money out of a lot of women from what I am reading. Don’t get me wrong…these folks are very skilled at what they are doing. I was scammed BUT got suspicious before my scammer ever asked from money! If you have a funny feeling about a military guy that you have never met, never talked to on the phone then ASK QUESTIONS! Get his APO address, his military e-mail address….ask for additional photos as a scammer will probably not have more than what he has already posted. AND do NOT SEND MONEY! They HAVE access to their money! AND they CAN MAKE CALLS!! Wake up women! Watch their verbage! If they say things that come across are a little strange then they are PROBABLY NOT AN AMERICAN! Mine said things like “cooking pot” and going out for “bottles of drinks”. Just things that made me go…hmmmmm…. Pay close attention and ask questions! If your having doubts…get rid of it! You already know…
Airline crashes over the Netherlands are rather easy to verify.
I was mad at myself for a bit for believing him, but now i feel like he needs to be stopped. Just not sure how to go about that since he is not real. His profile is gone from okcupid so cant report him. Hopefully, women educate themselves about men they meet online before they get scammed. Luckily the only thing I lost was some dignity. I was vulnerable I guess because he played on my own sad story which I was gullible enough to share with him.
By the way Roland Kellog Edwards told me he lost his wife and son in an airline crash over the netherlands and he was orphaned as a child. He grew up in Germany with an uncle. He also referenced childhood friends named Englund and Charles as well as their wives. One of the wives names was Leticicia and he had given me her #. I never called and now I figure she was probably part of the scam to make him seem legit.
Hi
I know now that Roland Kellog Edwards is a scammer. I confronted him and he denied it of course. Actually said no American could ever be a scammer. Lol. I guess he was appealing to my patriotism. I googled his picture and the same pics I have are on a zillion dating sights. i just had to laugh and I felt pretty stupid thinking he was legit. Luckily I found out within 3 weeks. I had become suspicious when he changed the subject or lost connection whenever i asked him a personal question. Oh well I guess Im smarter now and wont be so naive next time.
Hi All, Is it true that in the last three months U.S troops were sent to nigeria for a peace keeping mission? Also apparently is army.usa an official address at all weather soldiers are deployed or not..?I always thought it was for example army.mil? an official one? Also if an officer request leave himself why does he have to pay for a ticket if he wishes to go to another country? Is it only free if he returns to the states??
forgot to mention his address chhpotts14@yahoo.com and his
“daughter” kpotts16@yahoo.com
Of course I mentioned him as scammer to all above cited dating sites…
And sorry for the typos!
I had a profile on Okcupid and so many visitors and nothing really interesting, then after some visits one guy made contact, telling me his name is Chris so we started to talk but of course always kept distance of get involved, so on messenger he started to say he is a single father or a teenage girl attending college, told me his parents died in a car crash, he is an ex army guy, needed to leave army to take care of his daughter. Nothing in this whole thing has at least a drop of truth, so of course he started to say he loves me, he wants me on his side in AZ, his best friend is from army as well. Then he asked me to buy one iPhone 5 to his daughter, plotted I didn’t care about her. So I sent a short message to her just to check but never mentioned the matter to him, so after more than a week I asked so Karen how is she? did she mention if my email arrived? caught out of guard he said no! she sure will respond. So here are some points:
1 – He sent me pics of a hot DJ from Italy saying it is him; found the truth by facebook;
2 – His daughter is a girl from Italy and found her on Facebook;
3 – The pics of his “daughter” contains some pics from other girl of facebook, the difference is absurd (she has a so white skin);
4 – iPhone 5 the dj from Italy got one;
5 – He says after leave army he works on secret service of USA;
6 – Found accounts on his “name” at twitter, maybefriends, friendfinder, sixsingles, securefriendfinder seems the guy got a lot of imagination and also looks like a professional online bachelor;
7 – Due the fact of different countries he tells me he wants me at his side asap, and not need 3500usd to pay his flight tickets and other expenses because he paid it with his credit card to meet a friend from army now on immigration of USA to make it easier to get my Visa (shrugs);
8 – For a person working to the government he has lots of pics (not real ones) on his profiles all around internet;
9 – Every time he talks about money, money, money;
10 – Now his best friend is suffering because his sister was involved in a car crash and her husband died inside the car, so she is on ICU and they need money to pay life support;
11 – Every now and then he says I love you, so I reply saying I love him as well (not true of course)
12 – Browsing the italian DJ on Facebook I spent hours checking all pics there, just couldn’t find one.. he (the scammer) sent to me;
13 – Everytime he senses on the air some doubts he is used to leave me speaking alone, he says he doesn’t care for money, money is not for him;
14 – His plans after receive five million dollars is to open a foundation with his parents names to help people in need (so touching);
15 – He called me for few times, this guy is persistent;
16 – He never respond my emails… oops lol I wonder why… ha ha ha, of course I know why;
17 – When I mentioned the hot italian DJ he mentioned oh after leave army I modelled to a guy named like the italian DJ; aham poor dj he keeps on his profile on Facebook more than 2000 pics and I saw all of them;
18 – Sent a message to the italian dj on his private email telling him he is involved on scammer’s plans;
19 – It is draining my energies to keep all this to myself and need to keep it coming because I want to play it harder, he turns mad when I mention about him to my friends, obviously he don’t want to get to know;
20 – His parents aren’t dead, he has no daughter, his life is moving from Troy, Conroe and now Sahuarita – AZ well at least he says so, he never got a single coin from me and won’t touch on my money to keep a criminal;
21 – My apartment is to be sold for other reasons, want to see how much hungry he is about money, so after sold I will show to him my money as will say, well baby as he calls me all the time, your money is here, fly to me and take it, laughs.
22 – So be careful about Christopher Potts or Chris former USA Army Captain (on his dreams) he also uses Lamzy14 as nick, be careful! I keep all conversations logs and the cyber police in my country is aware of all records I keep.
*P.S.: Sorry for the long post I didn’t want it too long, but after one month and 3 days I got some good stories to tell, hope this can be helpful.

This group of scammers is angry that we are on to their game.
Maybe we should go on a talk show or news tv to warn more people before something worse than stolen money happens?
