Internet Dating Scam: Fake Soldiers

I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:

The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.

The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.

If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.

You can also check out who is really behind their email address…

AND / or their telephone number…

To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

  1. To Samar:

You are not an idiot! Whoever he is he’s one beautiful man.
I have photos from him and also on his Badoo site he has two. One in uniform with a blue beret, and one in shorts sitting at an outdoor bar on a beach.
I just reported him to both Badoo and Yahoo Messenger, along with the emails connected to him.

As for his poems, they are plagiarized and you can find them all by going to love poems and typing in the first line or two of the poem.
You can reach me at mugzee60@yahoo.com

  2. I received a friend request on October 1, 2012 from Captain Eric Cennamo. He says he is a widower of 2 years. A father of a 5 year old boy named Maxime. He says he is Kabul, Afghanistan since May. I friended him. Within a week declared he loved me and wanted me to be more than his friend. He asked for money for a satellite phone $890.00 I sent it via Western Union. A week later asked for money for food $270. He said they were attacked and lost all his food. I sent the $270 again via Western Union. He is now asking for $7500 to come home so we can get married.

Hi all! It was a long while since I was in and commented. I do not know if anyone remembers. 2 years ago I did not know what the scammers were. I met a man on Woome, who claimed to be an American military on duty in Baghdad. He said his name was jenn smith, had a son of 14 who lived with Jenn’s grandmother while he was on duty. I was scammed, but was so totally in love with this man so I believed everything he said. Today, two years later, I feel good, I do not have any contact with this son of a bitch, but want to tell you that I have contact with the military that I had in the photos. So now I ask you, that you who recognize Jenn Smith, Bruce Collins, Bill Morrison, etc. I’ll tell you that his name is Kiran Hill. I’ll send you the link to where you can go in and check out the photos. Think that there are several of us who have been scammed by Kiran Photos. He is an incredible person who want nothing more than to stop these bastards. I hope that we will succeed and to all of you, keep up the good work you all doing. I googled on Kiran’s name, when I found this link…https://www.facebook.com/KiranHill4Congress

To Margaret Rodgers! I’ll give you an answer to what you are saying about the name kristoffer, kristoffer spelled that way in Sweden

  6. This site is fantastic please listen to what you are told on here, it’s hard and ladies its easy to be taken in by these scammers as they confess undying love and marriage which of course is all lies to get you to part with money for a phone or leave so they can come and see you. I have a support group where ladies have been able to talk in confidence on Facebook closed so know one sees it. The devastating effect these scammers cause bankruptcy and financial hardship as well as broken hearts and broken spirits. Margaret is doing a wonderful job and Msgt McLaughlin please listen to them both. This dirty buisness is still going on but the more women who are told the better it is even if you just drop it in to a conversation.

  7. To Jane:
I need direct contact with you if possible regarding our friend John Prieve! Do have picture of him? I do have few he sent me very cute! LOL! What an Idiot i was about him!

  8. Vickie Lynn says

I went to Western Union and they told me it was a scam. This guy told me we were getting married, told me about his 2 kids, his house in Seattle, car he drive, send me tons of love notes and a video of a sone dedicated to me. Whne I confronted this Matt guy, I didn’t heard from him again…..until 3 days later…the guy on the other end told me where the REAL Matt Chapman lived and that he was a scammer in Malaysia. Then he told me he was so in love with me….was sorry for the scam and wanted money to come to America….lol I was devasted over all of this. So beware of Captain Matt Chapman.

  10. Ladies!!
Regarding Sgt John Prieve Patrick take note that at the end of our 3 month ‘relationship’ I received an email from a website called TWOO. It is a site that interprets apparently. I did not respond to the request but it could open up scams to those who don’t even speak English.

As far as John Prieve, he stooped low enough to say he considered himself my children’s father and that he loved them!! He asked me to marry him within one week and over time even asked to be allowed to chat with my 10 yr old daughter! I pretended to be her and he was asking her how she would like to live at his big house in Oklahoma and go to school there. When I answered that I would miss my friends, he actually had the audacity to say he was my daughters new friend! At that point I stopped the pretend conversation he thought he was having with my daughter and he got upset about it!! Be careful with this guy. I didn’t like where he was headed.
    Emails to be leery of:
    Sgt.johnprieve@rocketmail.com
    Juanprievemartinez@yahoo.com
    Orumahjones@yahoo.com

Also beware of a long haired guy who’s yahoo I’d is buedayoff and has an email of ferris. His coordinates of his email are the same as juanprievemartinez.

These guys do not have the right to prey on women! Lets stop them ladies.
They definitely don’t belong trying to draw children into their sick and depraved game.

  11. John Prieve
    sgt.johnprieve@rocketmail
He gave me false hopes and empty dreams!

  12. Anyone had contact with a Sgt John Prieve supposedly in Libya on special mission? Or his supposed daughter at West Point, Juan Prieve Martinez? Or his supposed Commander Sylvestre Orumah Jones? Yes I have for the last 3wks now he promised to marry me, sent me very nice pictures of him self! He have a big house in Oklahoma, house in Spain! as Jane stated he’s doing the same thing with me! His parence died in a car crash in Spain, his brother in jail on drug charges in Spain! His Or his supposed daughter at West Point, Juan Prieve Martinez? He did ask me to come to Libya and meet him for a week and bring pain medicine! I hope some one put stop to this jerk!

  13. the last man i met goes by the name steve billy from new york he is a scammer i put his pic into the google program and 6 pages of alias came up he is a busy man i will get the list and post all the names he uses he is also on facebook with a number of different names. he claims to have two children mary 18 and sam14 this is were he tried to get money as it was marys 18 birthday and she went to nigeria to be with friends and wants a big party he tried to get me to pay for her party he wanted 3500. he gets the kids to write to you but it is actually him writing he is very articulate in his writing but after time he messes up or if you confront him on any issue.

  14. I was also scammed by an (he said) american soldier in Afghanistan. He pretend to be a CIA Agent/FBI Agent/American Army Officer, commander Joseph Martins Muller, federal agent Joseph Martins or Joey for his friends. He sent me pictures also standing befor the american flag. His ex wife died by a plane crush 5 years ago and his only daughter died 2 days after by a heart attack. He was left with his only son 11 years old who is at broadschool in US now. His parents died some yeras ago. His mother is Dutch and his father Irish. He also have a house here in the Netherlands from his latest grand mother. And guess what he would retire in a couple of weeks.
He is a great writer in love letters and you feel if you are in heaven. He has realy talent for that .After one mont he start asking me for money. Anyway a long story about a UN diplomat who should deliver the package. I have still contact with him and he thinks I still believe him because I play the game with him. In the mean while I try to get more information. I don´t know where he gets the pictures from. I think stolen by internet. So, perhaps when any one of you knows how to put these pictures on internet and which site the best is, please let me know so I perhaps can find the right person of the pictures. I have already sent an email to CIA and FBI but I don´t if they will answer me.

  15. i went on metrodate.com and met the first man who called himself sergent raymond nobile he was charming after about aweek he began asking me for money to set up phone service called ts2 i agreed and made arrangements to make payments i made the first payment but did not feel good about it afterwards and did not make anymore he became very angry with me and started to try to make me feel guilty as he would now be tortured by his army and so on i ended it and refused to talk with him. i went back on the site a few more times and again the same result a total of six men in a row did not meet any real guys just scammers my friend too. we did find a program that if you have a picture of the man and put it in this program it will bring up information on the person. my friend and i did alot of research on the internet about scammers and we played a few of them getting more information from them they are smart in some ways but are real stupid in alot of other ways we had one that we actually got his real name and he confessed he was a scammer and why he was doing it we have learned alot about these fools you can beat them at their own game if you want. anyway just watch out for metrodate. thanks colleen

  16. sandy pattison says

Hi thank you everyone for the information this is a list of recent people i have been speaking with whom claim they are U.S military please let me know if anyone has come across them either fake or real. Also some ask for money for air ticket travel to the destination of the person they are claiming to meet as the U.S military will only pay for there return to their base at Washington D.C. not to other parts of the world so apparently thats why they ask for the airfare.

    sgtkelvinbosnakis,sgtbruizcampbellwalker,sgtbrukerodgers,chadmudd to name a few..thanks

  17. Anyone had contact with a Sgt John Prieve supposedly in Libya on special mission? Or his supposed daughter at West Point, Juan Prieve Martinez? Or his supposed Commander Sylvestre Orumah Jones?

John had asked for money for pain medicine and food. Also request for leave money which he then said forget about when I researched it and confronted him about. Now the Commander sent me a request to sign for his family leave but no fees as John has supposedly been injured and hurt several times in the last 3 months that we have been chatting. I am waiting to see just how far this will go. Since they know I will not send money what could be the motive to continue contact with me? Supposedly John is being released on leave within the next 15 days and wants me to meet at airport. Again, what could other motive be other than monetary? He knows I don’t have money.

  18. Margaret Rodgers says

TO SANDY PATTISON; I would like to ask MSG Robert McLaughlin about this Law307p and if legitimate, which I doubt. Robert mentioned on here once, they have two emails, one is for personal use. He’s giving you info about security reasons on his emails, but giving you his CO and Captains emails ? What – they are less important security wise. If that was true, he certainly would not be giving you THEIR emails. You don’t indicate if grayrobert ends in .Mil. or not. Captain joneskelly is incorrect email. Does not end in .Mil. Does not need a letter of request from you. He does the request directly himself. Looks like all he has said to me is pure BS. I think you have a scammer.

  19. Margaret Rodgers says

TO LYNN – Sorry my answer is no, however, one look at the name and my instincts tell me it’s made up and fake. The name Kristoffer is usually never spelled that way. It looks like something a scammer is using.

  20. MSG Robert McLaughlin says

Come on Sandi you know better! Clues:
    -There is no Law 307p.
-E-mail addresses are not highly confidential. Heck I can TELL YOU my SECRET email address where I can get classified documents sent to me, I even have it on a business card. However you will never be able to send me mail there because it is on an entirely different network.
-What do rebels have to do with email, do they run the Internet or something?
-Did you google “Consultant.com” and see the results? it is used in fake scams.
-No one will put their rank as PART of their email address because ranks change.
-Any “Letter of request” is just to get personal info.

    Remember:
    1. If they are military their email will end in .MIL.
    2. If they claim a dead relative you can verify deaths online.
    3. If they claim divorce most counties have that online too.
    4. Ask for a simple thing like a picture of them beside their monitor with your profile up on it.
    5. Quiz us on military stuff! The real soldier have no issues telling where we went to basic training, what is our MOS, what was our first duty station, when we made our last rank, etc. It’s not secret.

  21. Hi sandy
This bloke is a scammer as its alll lies
    Thay will use any excuse
Also his captain wouldn’t give his email out .
U don’t pay for leave also be warned he will get nasty I’ve had a couple like that

  22. HAVE YOU COME ACROSS ANYONE BY THE NAME OF KRISTOFFER KRAMER

  23. sandy pattison says

Hi Just a quick question which i want to verify plse, I was talking to a guy who claims he has a .mil address but according to: Law 307p apparently this is a hightly confidential address and only military service people can send from it because of the rebels there, and he gave me two official email address or so he says one is his commander and one is his captain if i had a problem with it he will verify one is commander_grayrobert the captain is captainjones.kelly@consultant.com he has asked me for a letter of request and said its done only with soldiers on a special mission where civilians can apply. Just want to know if this is correct. with thanks sandy.
