I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

I think you all need to know that your scammers are reading this website… I know because my scammer printed on msn word for word what i had said…. please be warned…. what you say on here gets back to whoever they are… but checking the email path is a very good tool… i found out that emails that should have been sent 4.5 hours ahead GMT were in fact being sent 7 hours behind GMT…
To all the ladies out their im very sorry that these men pray on us. I have several names to add to this and I hope it helps. But can I ask on the militery issues, why would a soldier ask you to right a letter to his commander asking for him to get an early leave? whats with this? Whats the reason and how does it become a scam? Here are some men, iv already found out to be scammers. Aldo Herrera from Africa and the US. Yahoo ID and email is herrera4030@yahoo.com ,Andre Manly says he in UK, but lives in Canada , ask for you to set up an account so he can transfer his money to you and if you dont have an account he tries to send it to US and wants you to send money to US customs to pick up a box…………….He really got upset when I could not do this…..thank God I dont have much income, because he is good. The next 2 are militery Eric Hugh, want you to send a letter for a early release, im not sure why they want this unless their reason is to get you to pay for their plane ride here. Still tring to figure this one out. But here is his e-mail to erichugh40@yahoo.co.uk and their Reid Morgan militery to, want you to send him things to Africa he even has a cell phone, his email is reidmorgan99@yahoo.com ,and this one is the newest James Boggs e-mail is sergentboggs@yahoo.com. I meet him on a dating site. and he says he militery to. All these guys got pictures and sound real convincing. Im learning think more of what they dont tell you, like why dont they have a facebook, and if they do look at the dates to when the started on facebook, and if its on a dating site then get alot of information on them and check them out very well, and if your willing to send them money, pay for a back ground check, it maybe cheaper……lol. I hope this helps some one. These guys are realy good in what they do, and what they say and how they say it. So please becareful.
To Angie
Please give me this Bryant e mail He c ould be one of these ferals I had a while back
Has he African voice?
Have you got someone at your place with a male voice?
Anyway send me his e mail please
TO Angie – On Stephen Bryant, you would do well by changing your phone number, change your email address or block him on there or delete as a contact. He is using one of the oldest tricks known on you to get his way. They use other scammers to help convince you of what ever it is they want to convince you of,.My Walter used another on me to convince me he really loved me.or he just pretended to be someone else, but one or two can be involved. He wants you to feel sorry for him, a form of manipulation, oh whoa is me syndrome, wanting you to think he loves you so much that your negligence is making him ill. Ask what hospital and where. Ask for proof. Blood pressure does not usually go up so high as to need hospitalization for those reasons on someone who normally has normal blood pressure. Mine has been as high as 175/117 and i was just observed a few hours in E.R. and rested there, and was sent home when it went down. Usually these spikes occur with someone who has blood pressure problems already. Maybe he does, i don’t know, but this is the knowledge I have..It sounds like he is in the stage of “hooking you” emotionally right now, so be prepared down the road for the big question, “how much can you send honey”….
To Elizabeth – I read what you posted on this Mike Avery James. There is a lot there to question. Professing love soon, typical of their scenarios. I seem to recall seeing something on Yahoo News about an orphanage and fire a while back. Can’t recall what country it was but it was one of the poor ones , and seems a couple months ago. Interesting he checked you out on Face book and then he spoke of his heading of an orphanage and his plight. Walter used the elections in Nigeria as part of his excuse for not coming to me on his leave. Did an excellent job describing what went on during his day on duty outside.during this time. Geez. So this idea could have come from the news. Also how does he head an orphanage in Ghana and be an officer in Iraq at the same time. I also think his funding would come from other sources rather than one singled out woman somewhere. If I had given Walter all the money he claimed he needed it would amount to $9000.

This is for all – my input – The only thing that changes in these scammers is “why” they need the money they ask for , the amount asked for, and they’re names and locations. They don’t give up . YOU have to be the one to end it.They are not emotionally involved with you. If he can’t get it out of you by using one name, he will come back as someone else and use a different scenario and location, and start all over again with you. They are well trained, are actors acting out a scene and excellent liars. They will do anything, say anything, to get it from you. That’s their job.!!! Like we have been told, never send money to someone you do not personally know or have ever met. They have infiltrated every dating site on the computer. You have to learn to spot them, smell them out, and then report your findings and warn others, I found one on Shytle that was listed on a page that has pictures of known scammers, think he went by Richard Wilson. So I think every little bit of info you have helps, even if you don’t understand how, you never know how it may help someone else.
To All – i have noticed a small tidbit in my chats with Walter Bruston and Walterian7 It may mean nothing but it seems to be jumping out to me. My chats with Walterin7 have been few.but have noticed in the last 2-3 wks both have used the word “stuffs” instead of saying the word ” things ” , WB never used this term ever before. The phrase “point is”, another one WB had never used before and referring to me as “Honey” , one WB never used until recently, as he always said Babe. Today I mentioned Fathers Day to Walterian, asking if he hoped to hear from his daughter.. I asked if he could visit with her on webcam or skype, and he said, “nope…new rules”. Another same scenario and I felt that answer was for me also. I asked if his duties were outside or inside and he said inside, he was ” Special Forces”. Said he rarely went on missions. Course I have no idea what they do in Special Forces, maybe Robert can tell us what he thinks about this. I want to say just watch and look for similarities we all are posting, and changes.in your chats.. This Walterian7 is speaking perfect English. and yet his emails came from Nigeria. I think there is more than one person who is being WB, and don’t feel the original one is still with me. Different personality along with new word usage.
To Beverly -I apologize for misunderstanding – i am very sensitive right now. Yes we all are here to help each other and you are definitely doing that. I hope what ever I add helps anyone. I have learned a lot from here. I have learned some things which I will add quickly. I managed to get an email to me from Walterian7. He became intrigued with me enough to send a bio on himself. Although he was very leary of me at first. I won over his trust and he sent me a letter of introduction on all about himself. Was very impressive letter and perfect in English. Along with it, he sent 3 pictures of a man in Navy uniform. One of the pictures has him standing along with another man in same uniform. This most likely is not the man who is contacting as I asked him for his picture and he had me wait for about six minutes and then emailed a full page about himself, well written, along with the pic’s. I traced the IP number which is 41.203.64.253. There was two emails, both having the same IP number. Coming from Nigeria. He claims to be a post commander, in Kabul, Afghanistan, with about 2yrs left to be in Military. He said his rank is CDR-05 I am still suspicious he is same scammer as Walter Bruston. I have both online at same time and toggled back and forth, which is what they do, but twice now Walter has said bye and his light goes out, and a second later the light on Walterian7 goes out too.
To Beverley,
And there is no other way you can post it but only on this site so please keep on doing that. Here are the woman who need the info, and if the scammers read it to? Well i uess we will never know.
So keep up the good work,
Greetings from the Netherlands ;-))
to Beverley,
I understand what you say, i just feel sad when two woman quarrel about some words that are misunderstood. Both of you are hurt in the same way, and both of you are doing a good job by telling your story, and investigate on these scammers, so we all can learn from it, thank you both for doing that, but don’t quarrel about it anymore. ;-))
When they Iist middle names it makes searches so easy. Michael A. James is listed a few times in the records but none of them have Avery as a middle name. So of course it’s fraud. Their stories are rather bold, I mean an orphanage fire would be international news.
Does any one have info on Mike Avery James? Appears to be an officer in the army currently stationed in Iraq. Goes by the email address of lonelymikez@hotmail.com. Was a supposed member of chemistry.com. Very handsome looking officer. I know that the scammers in Ghana are using this poor mans pixs. Thanks if anyone can help.
Interesting insight all. Here is my story. This so called army officer was on a internet dating site Chemistry.com, claims he is an Army officer station in Iraq. It’s his last tour of duty and will be home (upstate NY) and expected to be home June 28th. We started emailing, sent me alot of photos in his Army uniform, along with him in civilian clothing. To make a long story short, he proclaimed his love for me in a matter of a couple weeks. Ladies as the saying goes “if it is to good to be true than it probably is”. I also chatted with him on MSN on several occasions. His spelling and grammer were really good and for the most part he was well spoken. He claimed to have headed an orphanage in Ghana. He checked me out on Facebook and saw that I have a very good career. Just this past Thursday, He claimed that there was a fire at the orphanage and 23 kids were injured, and two died.Doctors refused to treat the other kids unless he paid them 25,000 USD. He claimed he had no one to turn to, so he asked me to send him 10,000 usd. He promised he would pay me back as soon as he meet me in person. Yeah right!!
I told him I work to hard for my money, and I couldn’t help him out. He pleaded with me, said how could he so heartless to let children suffer. Sorry not going to happen. He called me at work, and left me a voice mail message, again pleading for me to send money.
These scammers are getting bolder and bolder. I say this because he asked me for 10K. For the record, the photos he sent were of a very gorgeous Army Officer, his age is 52. I didn’t think twice because I am an attractive women. Everything appeared to be on the up and up. I consider myself to be an intelligent person, but was I ever fooled!!.
This person name was Mike Avery James. Has anyone else had this character?
Hi back to give latest on my love scammer Sgt.Stephen Bryant.Really need some help here as he will not leave me alone. My phone is constantly ringing and I am getting seriously rattled. He is very persistant and he has now got his so called business partner to ring me and various friends claiming he is heartbroken blah blah.Today he was hospitalised with high blood pressure because he was so upset that I have been ignoring him. Please can any of you get in touch and tell me how I can share all the info I have on him now.It is very extensive and would like to be able to share this. Also could do with a bit of support from someone who has gone through this experience.:(

It is worth repeating again, if they claim a dead relative you can verify it here:
http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi
Go ahead and look up any of your relatives no longer with us. You can also add notes to the deceased so if they are used in scams they can be so noted.
