I just came across a post on “A Soldier’s Perspective” discussing a rather disgusting and disturbing trend that has guys posing as soldiers on Internet dating sites. Here’s the quote from CJ’s:
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like “Military TELEX” in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it.
The BIG red flag here is that the guy is asking for money. NEVER fall for that con.
If you come across anyone on a dating site who is asking you for money, regardless of the reason; block them immediately from further contact and then report them to the internet dating service.
You can also check out who is really behind their email address…
AND / or their telephone number…
To read specific details about about one incident, read CJ’s post “The New Military Dating Scam”.

I rapport the fake sgt A Giunta (sorry for the real one) to Badoo (site) i guess about 5 times, but finally it works out, he is off the site now, but i am sad to say they never give a warning he was used for scamming, if you click on his removed profile, it says only “removed member, and maybe you find sgt A Giunta next time again!!!????”, Maybe it is time for the datingsites to change, and we have to spam them with messages about the scammers too? I know I will…
Tip; To overload the mailbox of the scammer, i send mine a lot of items from You Tube, , and i mean a lot, ;-)) for example ther is 1 item called; “How to treat a Woman”, it is hilarious, and all kind of stuff to fill up his mailbox. I send him all kind of chainletters, info from my hairdresser (in Dutch haha), adverticejunk, a lot of photos from the internet of my city and my country (he most learn about the country where he is going to marrie me, isn’t he??) newsletters of all the newspapers we have over here, and i make him, if i can, a member of a lot of sites (useless)
If he is in a hurry to go offline, i pretend my kids want to chat with him, that takes a wile and than i pretend i am the kid, hahahah, or one of my friends is (we work in shifts too lol)
i play this game called, you are the only one who (i want to eat a kiwi with, i want to hold hands wile the sun comes up,you are the only mouse whom i share my dinner with in the kichen, you are the only flea, who may live on my cat )and so on, you have to make up an other one the whole time, and i hold him online for a long time, becuz he really likes it and wants to win, and for me, well i can practice braingym. The point is he spends a lot of time with someone who knows he is a scammer, so he cant hunt an other victem who is without knowledge…..
Mistakes they make; they often mix up the words; leave, life and live
when you notice you feel like your chatting with an other person, you probably are, they often work in groups.
Make up storys yourself, i told mine i can not transfer from my own account because it is a business account and i have to ask permission from my businesspartner, (that takes a wile)
Tip;keep scamming them as long as it is funny to do, promise to send money, if you already told them you have no money, promise to ask your rich friend for a lone, than do the communication disorder.send him to the bank, in an other town, tell him you are sorry, but you send it to the wrong bank and send him to another bank, tell him this bank only do business with that bank, make him believe ther was a malfunction and it will arrive the next day. and react as if you are really worried and you dont understand what is wrong at the bank…..play the game untill he, or you are fed up.
My scammer will be making a lot of miles these day’s, and he is sweet, sending me a lot of loveletters, to keep me in a good mood, hahaha
Tip;play the angry, jelous mad woman, as long as you promise to send money he will do everything to keep you calm and understanding.
Make him jalous too, and chat with other man, or say you don’t believe he will ever retire, and “come home to you”, so you act like there are other man hunting you, and you start doubting him. make his mind crazy.
Sometimes i feel mean, and i feel even sorry for him, i became a good scammer myself, and even better than he is, he has no clue whatsoever. And i can now smell a scam from miles away now,
i hope it helps you to have atleast a bit of fun, remember they had there laughs to.
To all, i was confused with the other website by the name;” The New Military Dating Scam: A Soldiers Perspective” (but i guess you all heard of them too, if you don’t you should go and visit that site, you can read a lot of tips from a woman by the name CJ, and a couplle of scammers who thougt they would’t be recogniced,as scammers (including a fake sgt) who posted there mail…… but you get even more wise when you read there mail.
There i read the story of Randi, anyway, i posted my mail over there too.
To MSG Robert McLaughlin and Robert N, thanks for the respons on my mails, keep up the good work, tnx
Here is the come on I referred to above. I found it in my messages and did not realize I had it. See how they zero in on age (I am middle aged.). Note how they want you to write to them on their e-mail. If they don’t try to get you with the military angle apparently they try an exotic occupation like “oil merchant”. Do u all know the saying: *&^% once, shame on u, *&^% twice shame on me. Well it’s not going to happen to me again. We’re smart and now we have a collective wisdom with the help of folks like MSG Robert McLaughlin.
I hope you are enjoying your life at the great age! My full name is Migel Holmes. I was checking my face book profile and i saw you on my friend suggestion page so i decided to contact you and see what future have for us and i will like to know more about you, I am an Oil Merchant, i am Divorced with 1 daughter. I turned 50yrs Jan 29th. and i like to swim, taking a walk by the beach, hiking, camping, traveling, reading, most times i do volunteering.
I lost my first wife and got married again but divorced 3 years ago, when i discovered my ex was having a love affair with my best friend when i am out of town. I have a daughter and she is in the boarding school. I work in UK/Falkland island under the supervision OPEC Nations… I am working in the Ocean Guardian oil Rigs here and it quite a wonderful experience working here on sea for the first time . I do like to know more about you. Tell me your hobbies and what you do for fun.
Please do write me back through my email on yahoo, migelholmes@yahoo.com for i will love to hear from you soon.
Love and Care,
To;Pam,Elizabeth Bolt, and Margaret Rogers,
Thanks for showing me how to get to the old comments.
I have two things to share with you all, is there somebody who remembers Randi Neff (april 2011?), who wrote she wants to end her life on may the first? Well i was so shocked reading her story, i maild her 2 weeks ago, to find out if she would respond to my mail, and she did, she is ok, dispite the circumstances, i thought you would like to know.
Second, i was wondering; if we could all put tips on this site of how you can recognize a scammer, and ofcourse everybody has other tips, but there are alway’s signs that rings your bells and knocks on the door of your forehead, i have some for you, i hope, even if it looks like it is nothing, you have a warning when you notice them;
1) when they chat in there own words, they write i (small letter) when they use tekst from a lovesite they use I (capital).
2) if there is a son or daughter you also chat with, they often make the same language mistakes, (chart instead of chat, to instead of too, and vise verca)
3) her instead of him, he instead of she
4) past and present time in one sentence
5) ambiguities; like for example they say to you
i can’t afford to lose you (your money he means)
i value yoy (how much money you can send, he means)
my……(your name)…of great price
and when they say something ambiguous, there is often a “lol” afther the sentence.
6) start every sentence with Honey, sugar, baby, darling,( and honestly, if my man would do this all the time i would slap him ; ))
7) when you say you don’t have 2000 euro or $ they are suddenly depressed, saying they are worth nothing (that is right haha), mine told me :”a whole sergeant cant even pay for the schoolfees of his own son, i better shoot myself with my own gun”.
8) when they say they cant do some things, due to security reasons, dont believe it.
9) seems there is alway’s a diplomat involved, ask them to send the copie of the diplomat passport and ID, you alway’s have prove, and you can see how they have suddenly a temper!!!!
10)Tip, save all chats and copie them, and if you notice something in his chats that is not quit right, write it down and compare (i mean sometimes he say one thing, then an other thing the next day, and you’re like HUH????? take that feeling serious
11) when it takes a long time before he answeres? probably he is chatting with different woman at the same time.
i know a lot more but i have to translate them for myself first. English to Dutch, and vice versa, so am working on it
I really want to put on a recipe for a delicious quiche, just to say tnx for all the story’s,but i was not quite shure you would appriciaite this, ;-)) if you do, i’ll give it to you nxt time.
To Elisabeth: you’re right, I got plenty of those on Myspace too (Yeah, I’m old school, no FB for me). Usually the guy just stumbled on your profile, loves your picture, wants to know you better, blah, blah, blah. A lot of divorcees/ widower with only one child, looking for love, already in love with me…and the whole thing in English so bad it’s just funny, especially since they all speak the SAME bad English. But you’re right, there’s no way to report them really…the last one I told off , after being oily and not listening to anything I answered in that single-minded way they have, started cursing at me, saying he was really pissed, etc…I threatened to report him…silence then. So yeah, they’re here too, and not necessarily posing as soldiers. But the very bad English and the style are unmistakable. “Am caring, loving, god-fearing hard working man looking for loyal, coureagous, funny, god fearing woman to spend my life with”. Right. All of them or almost coming originally from England or Spain and working in Africa or elsewhere, usually as engineers. If I had been given a dollar every time I had one of those contacting me, when I don’t even want it…I’d be rich!

To Susan: Thanks for confirming Tony Kinahan. I sensed something wrong here with this one right away. I never even gave him a chance. Thanks to my scammer Walter, I now have a sixth sense on these people. I told him to email me, and all he did was try and get me on all these chat places, like three different ones. I just ignored him. I’m too beat up from Walter to even want to go there.
To eefje: Scroll down to the bottom of this page to this box you post your comments in, and just above it to the left it says Older Comments, click on that.
To Beverly: Thanks for letting me know about Cybercops.com I did not know about this one. Yes I noticed he had made changes on about everything in there about 2 mos into chatting. I kept going in and looking at his info, something was nagging at me, when I realized the date the changes were made was January 1st…the first day he ever contacted me. The bugger put up new pic’s and info and then went for his new victim (me). When I asked him how he found me out of millions of women out there, he said he was just browsing and came across my picture and fell in love with me!! So silly me I fell for his line hook and all. So I thought he didn’t want anyone else on there, that it was just for him and me, ohhh arn’t I special..and yes the cheeky statement he put in there, isn’t that a hoot. I suspect he is Diane’s Walterian7, as there is similarities here, so he could have been on “Are You Interested” but she states he is blocked there now, however, he is on Shytle.fm, another dating site also, which he asked me to sign up on and be his friend on there also.and once again I am his only friend there also. Now this I could never figure out why he wanted me to do this. .. I know it has to be part of his con game, but I can’t quite figure out how this works for him. At first, and for a long time, I thought he was testing to see if I would be faithful, and it was hard because there was some really good looking men visiting my profile but I never responded to any of them to show him I could be trusted. Now I think it was probably to make his page look more ligit, so if he contacted a person and they checked him out they would see one other woman was his friend and think he was ok I guess. Pretty clever, the jerk.He never posted any other women as his friend, but I found him getting their private emails , and am sure he was trying to scam them also. I hope for nothing but the worst for this person, whoever he is , or she is, or whatever it is. They ripped my heart to shreds.
the same guy under the name of timmyjoejoe who actually is a nigerian scammer is still in imesh. he is using the same pic of someone from the military. i reported to yahoo and imesh but still he is scamming is way thru.
efje: Look under the blue Older Comments; click on it. Hope this helps.
I just barely got approached on Facebook by a person who, although not military, is the same poser type we have been discussing on this thread. The propositions are all very similar. There is one child involved. He is divorced/widower. He is in the military or works in some remote area (this guy was in the Falklands). English is not the best. Appears to be polite. Very seriously interested in a relationship with you. Blah, blah, blah. I don’t know how he got to me on FB. He sent me a message but I’m not, I don’t believe, signed up for any dating aspect of their service. Mostly I waste my time with FT, lol. Anyways from this new personal contact and some of the stuff posted it appears that they figure the jig is up with the military approach so they are taking another tact. Just beware. You will recognize it in a flash. I didn’t bother with anything. I went ahead and blocked him on FB but they don’t make it easy to report these jerks. They don’t quite fit into the FB parameters of a physical threat or sexual intimidation. They should have a choice that says: This is a Nigerian scam artist. We will investigate and prosecute for violation of our “terms of use”. And for all of u who are English as a second language: you are doing wonderful; don’t apologize. I dare say most Americans can only speak English, myself included. I admire you all for being bilingual.

To Margaret Rodgers, I too have been taken in by Tony Kinahan (Anthony Kinahan). He contacted me from Are you interested dating site that is connected to Facebook. He claims to be a teacher from the UK, born and raised in Ireland. Has no siblings, both parents are dead, no children. His use of the English language is really poor, from the spelling to usage in what little sentences he writes. He only used two or three word responses. He did not ask me for money…he wants cyber (internet) sex. he is on Facebook and has a bunch of women friends..hundreds. This guy is a sad case. Stay away from Tony Kinahan.
To Margaret Rodgers…..I too have been approached by Tony Kinahan. He is supposed to be a teacher of English in Thailand. His grammer is very bad and his spelling and misuse of words is very prominant. He hasn’t asked me for any money…all he wants is internet or cyber sex. This guy is a sad case. My son looked him up and found this website and I can see that he has had other victims. He won’t do emails, only yahoo messanger. Be careful of any out of your area communications.
There were a lot off tips on the site that were very usefull, and that is also gone now. Is all the mail that is posted on here, somewere else to find and read again?
I came a few day’s ago on this site, and there were a lot of story’s to read, iam now open the site and……its almost empty, how can i read all the mail that was posted before?
Latest update from my scammer had another email from so called Leave Transit Department!!!!!They have granted his leave and I have to pay the money into his son’s nanny’s Halifax account and then she will take it to his home base in Manchester and they will send it to the US central army base.Really?I am sorry but this is now toridiculous to take seriously!!!!!!My closet friend is form Manchester and I grew up near a US ilitary base and I know there is no US military base in the middle of Manchester.Latest communication states he can not live without me and will surely die without me in his life…hmmm think I can give him a bit of help there.
Actually I have 3 passports. Regular (blue), official (burgundy), and diplomatic (black). I was assigned to an embassy as military and thus they are issued to some but not all. Very rare.
Shanne, is the passport a Diplomatic one? It should be, ad military seals do not go in it, in fact I cannot even think of what a military seal may be. Diplomatic passports i the US are black and have the words DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT on the cover. This is for sure a scam.
Margaret, you are right, if I want leave all I need to pay for is my plane ticket, and if I have Internet I can do that. When we are “charged: for leave the charge is against our leave balance, not any monies.
Diane, I am glad you caught on that he was a scammer before you lost anything!
Linda, they want to “stay friends” because every minute they spend with you they learn more about you and the way we think, they will use the information against the next person they scam.
Angie, there is no such thing as a The Leave Transit Department. I love that he wants you to trust him with all that money but he will not even provide a military email, haha! Send him fake western Union confirmation numbers or anything to waste his time. One person even sent a box of old computer parts and put on the customs forms that they were worth $2,000 so the receiver had to pay a $500 customs fee for them.
john ken is no diplomat he is a scammer from james rellinger.dangerous this man sorry my english i am from austria.by me john ken he bringing package from james rellinger whenn he becam money for the insured
