Put on a couple of pounds over Christmas? If so, be glad that you’re not a member of BeautifulPeople.com.
The online dating site which bans “ugly people” reportedly kicked out 5,000+ members who had apparently enjoyed a little TOO much holiday cheer over the Christmas holidays.
Actually, the action was called for by members (those that ate salad over the holidays) after seeing holiday photos of those who had put on a few pounds.
The company responded by moving the chubbies back into the rating stage and making them re-apply to the site. Applications were reviewed and only a few hundred were allowed back in.
The founder of BeautifulPeople.com apparently said: ”Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.”
Egads.
Does anyone else think that the whole concept of this site is completely bizarre?
Personally, I hope the newly chubbed out former members of BeautifulPeople get the hint and sign up for a real online dating service… one that values the WHOLE person, not just external beauty – something we all know retrreats with age.
Comments?
I disagree with that TEN THOUSAND TIMES TEN THOUSAND PERCENT
IT ALL GOES BACK TO ONE’S OWN DEFINITION OF WHAT BEING BEAUTIFUL REALLY AND TRULY IS ALL ABOUT
AND JUDGING SOMEONE AS NOT BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE OF WEIGHT ISSUES DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARENT
I have to agree with Tina. If you know the rules going in, you can’t or shouldn’t be surprised.
Blogger note, I really appreciate when bloggers put dates on their posts. Looking at the earlier comments I’d say I am late to this party.
I think that what this site did is terrible, but if you join a site called beautifulPeople.com you surely realize that they’re not talking about inner beauty. These people didn’t have a problem joining a site that superficially judged people when it was only other people being excluded. I’m sure I sound mean but I can’t help but think that turnabout is fair play.
That is just wrong. . . Fat people need dates too. I did a quick search for fat people dating and sure enough there are sites out there. I did get a chuckle at one Fat site, if you scroll down to the bottom there was an ad to sign up and get paid to lose weight. LMAO !!

The way the website worded this, there was a member search-and-destroy mission on January 2! I can’t understand the mentality behind it, but fortunately that kind of site is the minority.
